Katie Wilton is a traditionally trained goldsmith and GIA certified diamond grader. She has worked in the jewellery industry since 2013, spending most of her career with the Downtown Barrie institution, Bill Le Boeuf Jewellers. There she holds a jack-of-all-trades position as appraiser, stone setter, jewellery designer, and bench goldsmith while managing the business's social media accounts and writing for their vintage blog.
Katie has also been an instructor for Georgian College’s Jewellery and Metals Program since 2017. Teaching the scientific, laboratory process of identifying and classifying gemstones; jewellery photography and marketing; and an industry business course. She credits BPW Barrie for the public speaking abilities that allowed her to transition confidentially into this role.
Staunchly independent, Katie can be found working on her home and property in her spare time. She is also an avid reader, outdoors person, and artist.
“My experience with BPW can be summed up by “growth”. Within BPW’s framework I’ve been able to explore a broad variety of responsibilities in an environment that is encouraging and enthusiastic. I’ve gained and honed professional skills that have helped me advance in my career.
I also value the opportunity to make a difference in my community and to participate in the political process through resolution writing. Being able to lobby our government on women’s issues has been empowering. I’ve felt my voice become amplified through BPW’s National and International platforms.
Through my presidency, I hope to give something back to the association that has given me so much.
BPW Barrie, President (2020-2022)
